The new smart list feature has made weekly and daily planning so much easier. Definitely a game changer. I would like to see a way to somehow exclude goals from the smart list if I’ve added a time block for the goal.
The workflow would be:
Go to Upcoming
Select the appropriate time period in the calendar pane
Select the appropriate smart list in the right side panel
Drag the goal or sub goal to the desired time slot in the calendar
Have the goal or sub goal dynamically disappear from the right side panel.
Thereby the remaining items on the smart list are only items that don’t have time blocks set for the time period I’m viewing.
This currently works great for individual tasks just not for time blocks.
Another alternative and maybe simpler would be a toggle on the right side panel. Seems like this is a fundamental feature and would make sense to not have to live inside of a smart list.
One additional helpful feature to facilitate this workflow would be to have a duration indicator at the goal level in the right side panel and in the time block when the time block is added to the calendar. Use the duration value or the default duration if custom duration is not set. This would provide guidance on how big of a time block you would need (for the tasks displayed in your smart list) and whether or not you are over allocating your time for that time block. This indicator would also be helpful in the Today view.
