Hi Griply team,
I really like how Griply helps structure goals, subgoals, and tasks. However, I feel a bit limited by the current options for measuring goal progress.
Right now, as far as I understand, goal progress can mainly be measured through completed tasks or completed subgoals. The problem is that when progress is based on completed subgoals, the parent goal can still show 0% progress even if the subgoals themselves are already far along.
For example, let’s say a goal has 3 subgoals:
Subgoal 1: 20% complete
Subgoal 2: 90% complete
Subgoal 3: 95% complete
If none of those subgoals are marked as fully completed yet, the parent goal may still show 0% progress. But in reality, the overall goal has clearly made a lot of progress.
I think it would be really helpful to have an additional progress measurement option that calculates the parent goal’s progress based on the average progress of its subgoals.
In this example, the parent goal progress would be:
(20 + 90 + 95) / 3 = 68.3%
This would make goal progress feel much more accurate and motivating, especially for larger goals that are broken down into measurable sub-results.
So the feature request is:
Please add an option to measure goal progress by averaging the progress percentages of all subgoals.
This could exist alongside the current options, so users can choose the progress calculation method that best fits their workflow.
Thanks for considering it!
