Esc click in subwindow of edit task/goal/habit -> exit the edit Macos

When I click the Esc from the subwindow of edit the task/goal/habit it exits the window of that edit and I loose all that I’ve inserted. Saying subwindow I mean the select dates, icons, … subwindows. It would be better to make 1st esc click to close subwindow and the second the edit window;l and the first esc click to close the window when the subwindows were not opened
